The most important skill in all of swimming? Streamline. Most important skill for your starts? Streamline. This week's videos help you develop a solid, stable body line on your forward starts. Brazilian Olympian Bruno Fratus gets us startedWatch Bruno’s Silver Medal 50 free here
To celebrate our friend Bruno Fratus two Silver medals at the World Championships, here is the worlds simplest drill... done really well. Why to it:
Understanding a solid bodyline allows you to carry more speed from the start into your swimming. How to do it:
1 - Dive in with a tight streamline.
2 - Glide for as long as you can. How to do it really well (the fine points):
Notice the obvious streamline out front, but look at the feet. See how Bruno holds the feet together, creating a small signature at the back of his body. This helps make sure he slips forward through the water. We also love how tight Bruno stays even as his body loses it's momentum. Even as he begins to slow, he stays in the rigid bodyline until he's completely stopped. It's that kind of commitment to the task that helped him go 21.2 in the 50 and split 47.1 on the 400 free relay. Congrats Bruno!
