DON'T CROSS THE CENTERLINE - SARA
Not crossing the centerline is more of a focus point than a drill, but it’s a key concept if you want to swim efficiently. Lie face down in the water and imagine there’s a line that runs right down the center of your body -- from fingertips to toes. Now start to swim, keeping your hands from crossing this imaginary line at any point in the stroke cycle. When swimmers let their hands cross the centerline, either at the entry point or during the pull, they end up wiggling down the pool instead of swimming in a nice straight line. Always keep the centerline in mind as you swim -- and work on not crossing it. Use hip rotation to move straight down the pool.
