Building Up Water Confidence In Early Learners (3-5 Years)
Step 1: Practise 1
Let the children use toys like a sprinkling can or other containers filled with water so they can pour water over their bodies, before they get in. Try getting them to get their hair wet too. This will get them used to splashes.
Step 2: Practise 2
Get your children to walk around in the pool a little. You can instruct them to jump around too. This is a great confidence builder and again gets them used to splashing and getting covered in water.
Step 3: Practise 3
Now, get the children to put their faces into the water and blow bubbles. This will get them used to their face totally submerged and also to breathing out underwater.
Some children take naturally to water and some don't. Practices like this really help small children to become water confident, so do them with your child as much as you can.
