The key to going 18.95 for 50 free? Focus on one thing at a time. NCAA Champ Kristian Golomeev shows how to do it.
When Kristian works on his sprint freestyle, he likes to focus on one thing at a time. Here, he’s focused on keeping the same spine line that he works on during his dryland and balance sessions in the pool. Watch Kristian’s eyes. To keep the head, neck, and spine in perfect alignment, Kristian looks almost directly down with his eyes. And he leads with the top…or crown…of the head. When he maintains a stable head/neck alignment, Kristian’s head travels straight down the pool, with no unnecessary movement up and down…or side to side. His head is always moving directly forward. Kristian doesn’t breathe during the 25, which helps him focus on moving the head directly forward, with no deviation. As he approaches the wall and flows into his tuck, there is still no change in Kristian’s head and eye position. This kind of singular focus and control is key to Kristian’s ability to sprint.
