Purpose
A great drill for improving arm extension at the front of the stroke
Enhances catch timing, body rotation and breathing timing
Key Points
With fins, kick in on your side with your lower arm extended
Complete a few kicks on your side while you recover your upper arm underwater as in doggy paddle
As you extend your arm forward catch with the opposite arm and rotate into kicking on your other side
Rotate your head to take a breath in in time with the rotation, as in other side kicking drills
Alternate sides
Progression into full stroke
Transition straight into freestyle after performing this drill to really feel the difference in your stroke
