Purpose
- A great drill for improving arm extension at the front of the stroke
- Enhances catch timing, body rotation and breathing timing
Key Points
- With fins, kick in on your side with your lower arm extended
- Complete a few kicks on your side while you recover your upper arm underwater as in doggy paddle
- As you extend your arm forward catch with the opposite arm and rotate into kicking on your other side
- Rotate your head to take a breath in in time with the rotation, as in other side kicking drills
- Alternate sides
Progression into full stroke
- Transition straight into freestyle after performing this drill to really feel the difference in your stroke
