When swimmers are getting ready to swim freestyle, become a champion freestyle swimmer, the first thing they do as they come of the wall is to think posture. They want to get their ribs in,they want to get a flat back, they want their chin in, they want to establish their posture and a line and they want to balance that line. Before they think about going to propulsion, if you think about posture line and balance first, the propulsion will be much,much more efficient. Championship swimming comes from concentrating on the technique side of that equation each link of the pool. We are gonna start from the basics.

I would like you just take a deep breath of air, and don’t let any air bubbles out, and just completely relax and hang in the water.  Ready……Go. Just hang. Dead man float, dead man. Don’t try to get your legs up, just completely let the water do with your body what it will. When you need a breath, just raise your head without using your arms or legs, get a breath and then go right back down and hold your breath. No……you use your hands…..don’t use your hands at all. See how her body torques in the water, that’s OK. Just let your harms hang down Steven. Good job, good job. Alright now, relax.
