If your pool has low or wash over gutters, some people find it easier to get out at the side or end of the pool. One method of climbing out is the twist. Use the leverage of both arms to start to lift your body out of the water. As you’re rising out of the water, rotate your hips so you land on the side in a seated position. Now rotate your legs away from the pool and brace yourself with one of your hands. When both feet are on the pool deck, stand up and walk away from the pool. It’s always good to see what else you can use in combination of the side exit, so looking for something like the side of the ladder, backstroke flags, or the starting block to give you a bit more leverage in standing up. Be aware of your surroundings and look for secure objects you can use to help you stand up. |
